How to Build Relationships with Sponsors

How to Build Relationships with Sponsors

A major part of planning and executing an event is gaining sponsors. These businesses and individuals will contribute money and sometimes in-kind donations to support your event and potentially a cause it’s benefiting. Yet, it can be a tough process to snag enough sponsors, especially when you have multiple and annual events. But when you know the key to successful event sponsorship, you can gain a built-in list of supporters you can turn to again and again.

What’s the key? It’s about building positive sponsor relationships. So how do you create sponsor relationships that keep them coming back to your brand?

Search for the Right Sponsors

If you want long-term sponsors, don’t reach out to just anyone. Instead, do research on potential sponsors to see if they’ll be a good fit for your organization and event. The best chance you’ll have of building a strong relationship and keeping a sponsor is to find one that is in line with your mission. Then, you’re both staying true to your brands and can cross-promote -- plus, you're giving more value to the same audience.

Discover Ways to Incorporate the Brand Into the Event

Instead of only putting your sponsor’s name on some event marketing materials and programs, try to come up with methods to integrate your sponsor into the experience – at least for a small number of top sponsors. You could work with interested sponsors to figure out how to make their products or a presentation part of the event. For example, serve a sponsor’s food or have a station where event goers can try products. When you find ways to include a sponsor, you encourage lasting trust and loyalty.

Offer Varying Sponsorship Levels

By creating different sponsorship price points and benefits, you can make everyone happy. You’ll be able to satisfy smaller brands with a limited budget while providing better perks to the big guns. Brands will be happier to work with you when they can choose from different types of sponsorship to best fit their needs and goals. You could even consider customized benefits to ensure that certain brands have the right sponsorship experience.

Focus on What They Get Out of It

On the hunt for sponsors, it’s smart to focus on the benefit to a brand rather than making a plea for help. Sponsorship tends to be a mutually beneficial concept, which you should embrace. Tell potential sponsors about how they’ll be supporting your event while gaining perks in the process. Make sure you create strong benefits to becoming a sponsor for your event, and then promote those benefits.

For example, the sponsor could gain brand visibility by having its name printed on materials and included in advertising and social media promotion. Try to offer different types of promotion to help your sponsor achieve prime exposure out of the deal. Maybe you could allow brands to make a presentation or give away products at the event. If possible, you might be able to offer a top brand the chance to be the only sponsor out of their competition. To have the most success at this, it’s important to try to understand what the sponsor would want to achieve and help the brand do that.

If you can make brands happy that they sponsored your event through benefits and positive results, they’ll want to return on their own for next year or the next event. Put effort into finding the right sponsors and providing the right perks, and you’ll gain repeat sponsors that are exciting about working with you year after year.

When Birds in the Backyard Turn into Art

What could be better than a purist approach to event marketing art?  This year’s YoungArts Foundation Gala experienced a slew of action-paced, eloquent and fascinating displays.  The event’s figurehead, highlighted by the Max Mara logo, was incredibly flexible. That said, the Italian luxury brand was only the show’s opening act. Dubbed the 2017 YoungArts Backyard Ball, the Gala far exceeded other, run-of-the-mill charity promotions.

The Backyard Ball

On January 14, 2017, the National YoungArts Foundation posted up in Miami, delivering its annual extravaganza to support the nation’s future artists. While recognizing the year’s talent, the Gala assisted this year’s 691-bodied audience of YoungArts Winners. The event supplied explorative music, awesome additions and amazing contributions to art, including jazz pianist Jason Moran, choreographer Jessica Lang and Max Mara’s north American retailer, Maria Giulia Maramotti.

The Birds

Among the artistic display showcases was an interesting assortment of origami birds. The event’s origami theme, incredibly varied, included many nods to the ancient arts of paper folding—such as abstract bird shapes. The stage’s backdrop was lit, the birds were folded and a dulcet purple framed the entire scene.

The Gala’s graphic cover design reflected this display, revealing different handcrafted art designs, origami’s geometric nature and a variety of event inclusions. Meanwhile, the event’s ceiling origami installation captured nature with hundreds of suspended paper butterflies. All around, floating origami animals impacted the space.

Success and the Prevalence of Art

The evening raised over $1.5 million to support YoungArts establishments, initiatives and programs in Miami, Los Angeles, New York and Washington D.C. The event’s aspiring artists—along with those abroad—were given extraordinary, life-changing opportunities to connect with their field’s leading impactors. The presence of public-presented work, a nod to tradition and the collaboration of different disciplines, together, made the Backyard Ball stand apart.

The event’s guests, of course, applauded the winners of the National YoungArts Week—which occurred between January 8 and 15. In the world of art, a little experiential marketing goes a long way. Origami birds, the presentation’s frame—in a sense—highlighted the gala's freedom, creativity and curiosity. Sometimes, event displays needn’t be expensive. Sometimes, trending, fun and unique event inclusions can be as pure as the message they’re relaying. In the world of charity promotion, event marketers have a lot of options. The National YoungArts Week presented a unique opportunity, too, which was categorized by a celebration of all things art. Minimalism still works, and events are still using it as an effective presentation too.

Golden Angels Gala at Soho Studios

Soho Studios is proud to announce that we housed the 2016 Golden Angels Gala, the annual charitable event of the Jackson Health Organization. We're delighted to play a role in such a wonderful function. The Jackson Health Organization has been an active for more than 20 years, and they raise 100s of thousands of dollars every year at their events. The 2016 gala was similar to other Golden Angels events, with a divine dinner paired with dancing exclusively for those who sponsor or support the Jackson Health Organization. Approximately 1,200 people attended the Golden Angels Gala. Tickets range from $1,000 to $2,500 and, as always, are worth it. Guest had the ability to mingle with some of the top minds in the health field and with many of the most influential individuals in the community. Jackson consists of highly renowned facilities like Holtz Children's Hospital, Ryder Trauma Center, Jackson South, Jackson North and Jackson Memorial Hospital. All proceeds went to the Jackson Health Foundation, a nonprofit section of the Jackson Health Systems, and went toward technological systems, new construction and innovations.

It's not surprising that tickets sell out for this event fast. Each year, the banquet has a theme, and this year wasn't any different. The entire night was centered around a cool winter theme to advocate that Jackson has cool medical miracles happening on a regular basis. From icebergs to igloos to a life-sized snowball, decorations adorned the Soho Studios facility and accurately represented the concept that "Something Cool is Happening at Jackson."

The event was produced by the amazing Wow Factor and catered by Starr Catering Group , the hottest and exciting catering company in Miami.

This event is known for being one of the most outstanding balls in Miami. We've had the opportunity to host many unforgettable productions, and this was definitely one of them. It was truly a night we'll never forget, and we're sure all guests felt the same way.
