Rock of Ages movie - A Miami Connection
Are you ready for the Rock of Ages film to be released in Miami? It's scheduled to launch in theaters mid-June. This film was shot in Miami, a few blocks from Soho Studios, South Florida's Film and Television studio epicenter. Miami has become one of the most highly demanded locations film. During the winter months especially, it is common for locals to see multiple production companies shooting in locations all around the city. It is an international film hub and people come from all over the world to shoot in Miami. Iconic films such as Goldfinger, Scarface and Casino Royale all selected Miami as the backdrop for their storyline. Recently, there has been an increase in the number of movies shot here. The economic down turn has made shooting in California incredibly expensive and its making more sense for Hollywood to film in Miami even if the storyline takes place in California.
Warner Brothers Rock of Ages is a movie based on the Tony award-winning Broadway play. Adam Shankman, (Hairspray) directs this star studded cast which includes Hollywood heavy hitters such as Tom Cruise, Russell Brand and Catherine Zita-Jones to name a few (Soulful songstress Mary J. Blidge even makes an appearance!). It’s a love story set on the Sunset Strip and told through the music of 80’s metal hair bands, which were considered the Kings of the Sunset Strip back in the day. The Sunset Strip in this case was actually 14th Street and North Miami Avenue, just down the street from Soho Studios. The production magically transformed many South Florida spots into LA-Land and from the looks of the trailer they did a pretty spectacular job.
This retro-rock musical promises to bring you back to a time where hair was big, groupies were abundant and sweet lick on a guitar could make everything alright. Rock on Hollywood, I mean Miami, Rock On…
