SAPAL

Overview

The Wynwood Art District is considered the epicenter of the arts in the Greater Miami area.

It is the year-round home to more than 50 art galleries and major internationally renowned collections. The Wynwood Art District is akin to River North in Chicago, SoHo in NYC, and other cultural destinations that emerged out of forgotten factory districts and are now home to the most influential galleries and art venues in the world.

And in the center of this world-class emerging arts district lies Soho Studios at The Wynwood Convention Center, and with it, a new, highly visible and much needed social foray into the arts: SAPAL (Soho Arts Pavilion & Lounge).

Purpose

SAPAL’s purpose is to support non-profit art organizations as well as the under-served emerging artistic talent in our community. To this end, we have created a sophisticated, yet casual, gathering space to encourage networking and showcase these talents. SAPAL will partner with South Florida’s diverse cultural organizations and artists to feature exhibitions, performances and symposiums in ways that will educate, inspire and give back to all who participate.

What events will SAPAL promote?

We believe that an open forum—with targeted marketing for each event—will attract new audiences to Wynwood, of varying ages and demographics. To fulfill its mission, SAPAL will:

invite non-profit groups and arts organizations to host events
invite independent curators to submit exhibition proposals
provide space to artists working in any medium who otherwise do not have access to traditional exhibition/performance venues
produce seminars on a variety of noteworthy topics
stage music and dance performances
offer space for charity functions
promote events in the space on behalf of our clients that rent the space
remain open to new ideas…

SAPAL is proud to be hosting numerous significant upcoming events over the next quarter to facilitate our support of the non-profits, such as Florida International Magazine’s launch of its celebrated November Art + Design issue leading up to Art Basel Miami Beach, and featuring its much-anticipated Florida Artist Showcase. Through December and January, SAPAL will host the international Red Cross exhibition, Our World. Your Move. During the Second Saturdays walk in December, MTV Art Walk will create a multi-sensorial audio-visual collage, and in the Spring of 2011, SAPAL will host the Invitational Furniture & Functional Design Show, partnering with South Florida’s art and design schools, established designers and manufacturers, curators and critics.

About the space

Soho Arts Pavilion & Lounge is located in Miami’s burgeoning Wynwood Art District. The 6,000 square foot pavilion is designed to be flexible, with movable walls for art exhibitions, video projections, symposiums, or open space for a dance or music performance.

Equipped with a full bar and comfortable leather seating arrangements, the multi-faceted Lounge aims to become a destination for those who live and work in Wynwood, as well as residents of surrounding communities such as downtown Miami, the Brickell area and all along the Biscayne Corridor.
